TEACHING VIBE

What brought you to yoga? We love a good origin story.

Surprisingly enough, the first time I tried yoga, I wasn't blown away! I was in college and my friend would drag me to a class every now and then. Once I graduated college and started working a 9-5, my back was killing me. I had been a gymnast my whole life so basically my back health is about 30 years ahead of my age. I had heard yoga was good for back pain so figured I'd give it a second try. And this time I had that mind blowing experience that everyone talks about! The grace, balance, coordination, flexibility, and strength of the asanas felt like home to my body (especially after leaving gymnastics behind 5 years prior!) But what really blew me away was the impact on my head space. As much as I loved gymnastics, it was competitive, stressful, nerve-racking, and quite frankly, not at all good for my anxiety. Yoga is the exact opposite of that. I didn't know my body and mind could be in such harmony until then.

How would you describe your teaching flow?

Light-hearted. Everything in this life is so serious. Yoga shouldn't be another thing on your to-do list to check off. That's why I like to make class fun, care-free, and engaging. I love to explore and challenge the body and mind. Curiosity, smiles, and laughs are mandatory. 🙂

Music Preferences? What is always on your playlist? Favorite artist?

I've been told my music choices are 'eclectic'. (I took this as a compliment). It's really such a wide range. From more traditional to pop dance music, if it makes you feel something, then I'm going to add it to my playlists. At the end of the day, what I REALLY love is classic rock music. It's so tender and poetic. So if you come to my classes, expect to hear The Boss, The King of Pop, and everything in between.

What was your most memorable yoga experience?

Any experience that brings together a huge amount of yogis really pulls at my heart strings. Yoga Reaches Out, Wanderlust. This community is like no other. To be flowing with hundreds of yogis all with the same intention is simply amazing.

Any teacher shoutouts? Favorite yoga teacher?

Too many! Jennifer Safrey, Anna Paiva, Tammy Friend... the amount of amazing teachers on the South Shore is incredible. What my favorites all have in common is their ability to make me feel challenged and loved and safe.

FAVORITES

Favorite yoga clothes - Crane & Lion. Clothes I can wear when grabbing lunch with friends and then off to the studio/gym to teach or practice are my favorite. My yoga fashion is all about versatility.
Favorite Car - my Jeep Wrangler...it's a jeep thing 🙂
The beach - I moved my whole life down to the south shore just to be close to the beach. Boating, sunsets, cookouts, outdoor showers...life is so much better by the beach!
Dogs - Nothing beats coming home to unconditional love from my pup. I do everything with my best friend.
